One day, he was working in the field.

Suddenly, a hare ran out quickly.

突然，一只野兔飞快地跑了出来。

It hit a tree stump and died.

它撞到了树桩上，死了。

The farmer was very happy.

农夫非常高兴。

He picked up the hare and went home.

他捡起野兔，回家了。

From that day on, he didn’t work any more.

从那天起，他不再干活了。

He sat by the stump every day.

他每天坐在树桩旁边。

He waited for another hare to come.

他等着另一只野兔再来。

But no hare came again.

但是再也没有野兔来了。

At last, his field became waste.

最后，他的田地荒废了。

This story tells us:
