Long long ago, there was a great boy named Li Bai.

很久很久以前，有一个了不起的少年，名叫李白。

When he was little, he did not like studying.

他小时候，并不喜欢读书学习。

He often ran out to play and gave up easily.

他经常跑出去玩，做事很容易放弃。

One day, he saw an old woman by the river.

有一天，他在河边看见一位老奶奶。

She was rubbing a big iron rod.

老奶奶正在磨一根大大的铁杵。

Li Bai felt very confused.

李白感到十分疑惑。

He asked: "What are you doing?"

他问道：“您在做什么呀？”

The old woman said: "I want to make it a small needle."

老奶奶说：“我想把它磨成一根细细的针。”

Li Bai was very surprised.

李白非常惊讶。

The iron rod was so big, but the needle was so small.

铁杵那么粗大，绣花针却那么细小。

The old woman smiled and said.

老奶奶笑着说道。

"If I keep working every day, I can do it."

He started to study hard and never gave up.

从此他开始刻苦学习，从不轻言放弃。

At last, he became a great poet.
